hen did the “Art of the Hand Sack” started?
1992...
Tom Hanson aka "Sac-Father"
It's in 1992, that the first ever game known to use the back of the hand for catching, came out on the market! That unique concept being the trademark of the Hand Sack, was actually back then called "handbag" or "Sac". Tom is from and living in Detroit, he usually runs companies, but he had that dream back then even before the nineties, and he went for it in 1992. It wasn't working enough to pay all the bills, so he put it aside, while still here and there keep developping it! His other companies did well, so he brought it back in 1995 using "Sportime" a famous P.E. Magazine. This time, the results were better, but not enough for the magazine cie, who also didn't really know how to sell it either. Obviously it got enough attention, that nearly 3 years later, another cie would knock-off his ideas of concept and packaging, by bringing another hand sack on the market. Good pionneer job Tom! No worries this is far from the end of the story, Tom always kept a good watch on the other cie's doings, even sending legal warnings, that never got answered. But in 2007, big problems would hit that other cie and Tom Hanson was about to meet me and once again change the whole world of the back hands and hand sack as we know it!
1998...
Steven Ochs aka Myachi Man
Myachi has its roots at Vanderbilt University where Steve Ochs learn to toss a lighter around on the back of his hand from his old fraternity brother. Eventually Ochs decided to stitch an old wallet around the lighter and the first Myachi was born. After graduating he put Myachi aside to work as a stock broker. He quickly worked up to a six digit salary, although that didn't make him happy. So in 1997, at the age of 25 he quit his job. He researched before that, all of the past phenomenon from the Frisbee to the Yo-yo and the other hand sack existing… Saceasi. By 1998, he had designed a new shape for the game and sport and bought fabric to make the Myachi himself. 10,000 Myachi later and countless hours on a friend’s sewing machine, Ochs was well on his way… To need real help to make it happen… Good thing he met me!
1999...
Sebastien Perron aka '''Big Dog'''
Ochs later met Sebastien Perron, an entertainer, hacky sack champion, and school performer. Perron became the Original Myachi Master, bringing his Martial Art, Pro-Takraw and Pro-Footbag, School Performer/Juggler and French Marketeer ideas... He pushed the Hand Sack to the next level. Ochs asked Perron to join him and help promote his creation, Myachi Master was to become a title for all, so Perron brought back his "Big Dog" nickname. The name Big Dog, Sebastien's verusdico (Myachi term meaning nickname), is derived from the literal translation of Perron in Spanish. Along with 15" tall liberty spikes colored red, white, and blue, he's easy to spot.
Other original concepts and creations of the Big Dog for the game and sport of the Hand Sack includes; "Myachi-Fu" "Wahssa" "Hand Sack Half-Pipe", "Hand Sack Card game", "Toy Star Hero characters", "Hand Sack Animee", "Fingerchux", "Finger-Belts aka Fingerknugz" and a few more... After a little 8 years running world champion, 2007 brought competition with those he trained...Butter, Crazy Ivan, Animal, Joe The Great (3 TITLES), A-Train, MMIT (1 TITLE), Quantum and many more… Much more can be found specifically on Sebastien Perron at www.sebastienperron.com
2000...+
Jason Loeffler aka '''Kid Myach''' and others...
Even with two people running the world of Myachi, it was difficult. Ochs’ savings slowly started to dry up. But instead of nose-diving, Myachi started to take off. Then other hand sack masters showed up, Butter, Animal, Quantum, Crazy Yvan, You may find some of those stories on www.talesfromthetrip.com
2006...
WAHSSA!
That's a big thing for the hand sack, the idea was born a long time ago, the name about a year earlier, a funny acronym thing. It's You-Tube that projected WAHSSA to be quickly made in 2007.
2008...
